For the longest time I couldn’t understand why some of my photos on Instagram appeared a bit more pixelated or blurry. After much trial and error (and some research) I’ve finally discovered the culprit! Instagram compresses your images every time you post to your feed. And by doing so they are also affecting the quality of your illustration. But don’t worry… I’ve done my due diligence and now know how we can all avoid pixelated images.
Tips to Avoid Blurry Instagram Images
When posting an in feed photo make sure to:
- Post using the Instagram Aspect Ratios
The aspect ratios you can use for an Instagram in feed post are: 1×1, 4×5 and 1.91:1
- Stick to the recommended resolutions!
1:1 aspect ratio: Use a 1080×1080 px resolution
4×5 aspect ratio: Use a 1080×1350 px resolution
1.91:1 aspect ratio: 1080×608 px resolution
When posting an in feed video make sure to:

By making this little adjustments you’ll definitely be able to tell the difference! You can also check out Later’s blog post on this. They go into way more detail and also dig into Instagram stories and IGTV. You can check it out here.
